Lahore, September 30, 2021 (PPI-OT): In the annual election of Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), Akhtar Nazir Khan was elected Chairman while Muhammad Naeem Sajid was elected as Senior Vice Chairman (South Circle) and Ijaz-ur-Rehman Vice Chairman (Northern Circle). The annual general meeting was held under the chairmanship of acting Chairman Riaz Ahmed in the building of Carpet Training Institute in which a large number of members participated. South Circle members attended the meeting via video link.
The meeting was attended by Carpet Training Institute Chairperson Pervez Hanif, senior central leader Abdul Latif Malik, Usman Ashraf, Saeed Khan, Malik Muhammad Akbar and others. In the meeting, Acting Election Commissioner Riaz Ahmed announced the results for the year 2021-22.
According to the notification, Akhtar Nazir Khan was elected as chairman, Muhammad Naeem Sajid senior vice chairman (South Circle) and Ejaz-ur-Rehman vice chairman (Northern Circle). Riaz Ahmed, Atiq-ur-Rehman, Kamran Razi, Anwar Mahmood, Sheikh Sohail Ahmed, Ali Asghar Chawla, Daniel Hanif, Mir Mudassir, Aali Manzoor Malik, Jamshed Aziz from Executive Committee (Northern Circle) while Zahid Nazir, Naeem Khokhar, Muhammad Zafar Idrees Solija, Hassan Akhtar Naqvi, Abdul Malik, Ali R Jaffer, Pervez Sajid, Sheikh Arif, Sheikh Zahid Hassan, Mrs. Sharmina Ansari and Mrs. Mumtaz Begum were elected from the Executive Committee (South Circle).
Addressing the participants on the occasion, the newly elected President Akhtar Nazir Khan said that he would like to thank his colleagues for their full confidence. “The difficulties faced by the handloom carpet industry are not hidden from anyone and we will continue our efforts without any discrimination to remove the obstacles in the way of development of this industry and to promote it,” he added. He said that the former officials have made best efforts on their own ways and meetings were also held with the government officials to solve the problems. “Inshallah, we will spare no effort for the development of our industry and prosperity of the skilled workers,” he concluded.
