Karachi, December 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The President of United Business Group (UBG) Zubair Tufail, Chairman Sindh Region, Khalid Tawab, Secretary General(Sindh) Hanif Gohar and other UBG leaders and members have pledged to follow the guidelines of their Patron In-chief Late S. M. Muneer who was the great iconic leader of the entire business community of Pakistan who devoted his entire life to serve the business community without vested interest.
His dedicated and devoted service for the promotion of economic activities particularly for exports enhancement, bringing foreign investment will always be remembered in the history of Pakistan. He was the man of principle who always turned up and stood firmly to the expectations of the business community. His character, simplicity, boldness, integrity, beacon and visionary leadership was exemplarily particularly to the young entrepreneurs. His disposal of work and quick decisions was unmatched.
It was his desire to make Pakistan Asian Tiger which he would say in his speeches on various occasions. Being the chairman of TDAP and Patron In-chief of UBG his tireless efforts to facilitate the business community will always be remembered. He encouraged the women entrepreneurs by giving them large number of incentives. His initiative to explore the hidden markets yielded fruitful results particularly in African, CIS, East Europe, South America regions. He organized single country exhibitions and led trade delegations to large number of countries.
Alishan Pakistan in India, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan Single Country Exhibitions in Canada, African countries, Trade Caravan to Central Asian States and Expo Pakistan all these events not only successful in all terms they also significantly contributed in Pakistan exports which will always be remembered in the history.
He always fought against corruption and mafias particularly water tanker mafia, dishonest government officers, malpractices and mala-fide people. He always served FPCCI with zeal and devotion. The veteran leaders of UBG recalled that when Mr. Muneer took over the President-ship of FPCCI it was on OD but he didn’t give up his efforts and never fallen prey of frustration and he succeeded taking FPCCI out of financial crunch. Such situation was again there in FPCCI when UBG took over the charge of FPCCI under leadership of Mr. S. M. Muneer in 2015. There were no funds in the FPCCI exchequer for the monthly salaries of staff. Mr. S. M. Muneer being the chairman of TDAP had approved Rs 50 million on account of construction of FPCCI Capital Office Islamabad which was completed in 2016 and FPCCI shifted to new building.
UBG had left Rs. 210 million in FPCCI accounts in 2019 that proves the uprightness and morality of the UBG leadership. The amount was deposited in fix accounts. Following directives of Mr. S. M. Muneer the office bearers of FPCCI used to undertake foreign visits on self-finance basis. The entire Federation House was renovated on sponsorship.
