Sialkot, December 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of EXIM Bank visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on December 15, 2022, on the special invitation of Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Malik, President Chamber. The President congratulated Mr. Irfan Bukhari on the approval of the EXIM Bank of Pakistan. Mr. Malik said that the EXIM Bank has been a long-due demand of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry which has been the part and parcel of the Sialkot Chamber’s advocacy campaign over the years.
During the meeting, Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Malik added that the session would mark the beginning of an important chapter for the export sector of Pakistan especially Sialkot as the EXIM Bank would be launching the Export Credit Insurance in partnership with the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit.
Mr. Irfan Bukhari, CEO, EXIM Bank shared with the business community of Sialkot that EXIM Bank would be launched in a phase-wise manner with the launch of Export Credit Insurance in collaboration with Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of investment and export Credit in Phase 1. He also informed the President Chamber that the products in phases 2 and 3 would include Buyer’s Credit, Short-Term and Long-Term Financing for Working Capital Management, Capacity Enhancement, and Import Substitution.
On the occasion, Mr. Oussama Abdel Rehman Kaissi, CEO of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit said that model of Sialkot should be replicated across the Muslim World. He shared with the house that he was amazed to experience the innovation and entrepreneurial dynamism prevailing in the industrial city of Sialkot. Mr. Kaissi mentioned that he would be visiting Pakistan on a frequent basis to ensure the timely execution and launch of the EXIM Bank of Pakistan.
He said that a massive awareness campaign would be initiated to ensure the transfer of benefits of Export Credit Insurance at the grass root level. Sharing his views, Mr. Oussama Abdel Rehman Kaissi shared that The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) was a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. ICIEC was established on 1st August 1994 (24 Safar 1415H), as an international institution with a full juridical personality.
Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Malik assured of his full support to Mr. Irfan Bukhari and Mr. Oussama Abdel Rehman and resolved for continuous follow-up with the Federal Government for the timely launch of Export Credit Insurance and the rest of the products and services.
