FLASHNEWS:

Dissolving provincial assemblies will create a new crisis in country

Islamabad, November 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Wednesday said that PTI’s decision regarding the dissolution of two provincial assemblies will lead to a great political crisis in the country, which will damage the limping economy. The opposition should reconsider the decision of playing with the country’s security for its own interests, it said. Such decisions will once again lead to horse trading and that important decision cannot be made on the streets, nor is it right to invite the army to intervene, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.

In a statement issued here today, he said that PTI wants to take decisions on the streets and at the same time it is demanding fresh elections, which is surprising. The idea of Imran Khan is not correct that the country will have democracy only when the power is with him and only those officials who have been appointed by him are honest while all the others are corrupt, he said.

He added that repeated elections and contesting elections from various constituencies at a time is a practice that results in huge losses for which legislation is needed. The people do not vote for any party to plunder, instability, and unending struggle among politicians for power.

Dr. Mughal further said that there is a lack of resources in the country and due to the dissolution of the provincial assemblies, there will be elections on more than four hundred constituencies costing billions. He said that the financial conditions of the country are not sound. Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have decreased. Essential imports are also being affected by the scarcity of dollars which is stoking fears of an oil crisis.

A billion dollars is to be paid in for Sukuk bonds this week, for which investors are not very optimistic, while senior officials are optimistic about this payment. The Asian Infrastructure Bank has given a loan of 50 million dollars, but the loan of 1.18 billion dollars from the IMF is pending. A month has passed since the negotiations on the ninth review of the IMF, but the analysis of the international organization is not called to an end which is increasing the problems of Pakistan.
