Islamabad, November 04, 2022 (PPI-OT): Former President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Dr. Shahid Rasheed Butt on Friday said some frustrated politicians are repeatedly dragging Army into politics which is condemnable. He expressed his concern over the ongoing campaign against the armed forces and urged politicians not to drag the state institutions into politics.

Shahid Rasheed Butt said that Army wants to stay away from politics but this is not acceptable to some upset politicians who want to come to power through blackmail. Army, bureaucrats, and judiciary should function within their constitutional limits while no one should be allowed to malign the national institutions, he added.

The business leader said that those who were running a campaign against the national institutions were traitors and deserved to be tried under Article 6. Everyone knows who brought the country to the present chaotic situation, he said, adding that the economy was destroyed by some politicians on purpose and now they are painting them as saviours of the country.

These elements want to weaken the bond between the masses and the army which is impossible as they stand exposed. Mr. Butt said that it is horrifying for our country that an institution responsible for the defense of this country has become so controversial due to allegations by political leaders.

Very serious but baseless allegations have been levelled against the current chief of army staff. Government and army must respond to all allegations and take legal action by lodging defamation proceedings against all the culprits who have levelled these unfounded allegations, he demanded.
