Karachi, May 11, 2022 (PPI-OT): Cement Dispatches decline 29% YoY during April

As per the latest data, Cement dispatches for the month of April clocked in at 3.5mn tons vs. 4.9mn tons in the corresponding period of last year, reporting a decline of 29% YoY. The primary reason for the decline is the slowdown in construction activities owing to Ramzan.

Total Dispatches for April depicted a decline of 30% on a MoM basis. Local Dispatches clocked in at 3.4mn tons for the month, (29% MoM decline) while Exports saw a decline of 47% on a MoM basis.

Local dispatches for the North region clocked in at 2.8mn tons for the month of Apr-2022, depicting a decline of 17% YoY whereas exports from the region decreased by 75% on a YoY basis.

Local dispatches for the Southern region clocked in at 567k tons during the month, a 18% YoY decrease. Similarly, Exports which constitute a major chunk of total dispatches from the region, also witnessed a massive decline of 85% YoY in Apr-2022.
