Karachi, November 08, 2021 (PPI-OT): Cement Dispatches decline 9% YoY during October

As per the latest data, Cement dispatch for the month of October clocked in at 5.2mn tons vs. 5.7mn tons in the corresponding period of last year, reporting a decline of 9% YoY led by a higher base and slowdown in construction activities.

For the month, local dispatches were 15% higher on a MoM basis while exports on the other hand witnessed an increase of 7%.

Local dispatches for the North region clocked in at 3.8mn tons for the month of Oct-2021, depicting a decline of 8% YoY. Whereas, exports from the region decreased by 74% on a YoY basis.

Local dispatches for the Southern region clocked in at 772k tons during the month, an 11% YoY increase. Exports on the other hand, which constitute a major chunk of total dispatches from the region, witnessed a decline of 9% YoY in Oct-2021.

Cumulative cement sales for 4MFY22 totaled to 18.0mn tons, down 7% YoY, driven by 2% YoY decline in local sales in the north region and 37% YoY decline in export sales of the southern region.
