Karachi, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Australian Trade Commissioner, John Cavanagh, along with Azhar H. Shah, Country and Regional Manager, visited the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industries (OICCI) on November 19, 2021, to understand the Chamber’s outlook on the current business environment in Pakistan and opportunities for trade and FDI growth. The guests were welcomed by Kashif Shafi, Executive Director, OICCI.

Kashif Shafi shared a detailed presentation, which included a brief history of OICCI, highlights of economic contributions of OICCI members, and an overview of the latest results of the surveys conducted by the chamber, which included Business Confidence Index, Intellectual Property Rights, Security, and Perception and Investment Survey. He highlighted role of chamber in facilitating FDI and shared various government incentives to attract FDI.

John Cavanagh commended the chamber’s efforts to undertake research and data collection with respect to business environment in Pakistan. He talked about how this research could be presented to potential investors from Australia, and asked OICCI to partner in setting up a webinar for interested Australian investors in the future. He also invited OICCI members participating to visit Australian pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai. John Cavanagh thanked Kashif Shafi for the presentation and sharing of economic insights, which helped in understanding of chamber’s viewpoint on the current business environment and opportunities in Pakistan.
