PCJCCI conducted a session with Qingdao Law Society to promote ADR

Lahore, January 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): “International arbitration through court is tiresome and time taking, which may be replaced with the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) system to maintain cordial business relations with the friendly countries like China”. An eminent lawyer Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri stated this as key speaker while addressing a Chinese delegation of Qingdao Law Society at Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Cheng Dezhi, President Qingdao Law Society, Li Huanting, Vice President of Qingdao Intermediate People’s Court, Yin Jhing, Vice President Qingdao Law Society, Ding Anhui, D.G of Qingdao Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Wang Caiyun, Director of Fazhigu, SCODA, Yan Hong, Director Qingdao Law Society, Moazzam Ghurki, President PCJCCI, Hamza Khalid, Vice President PCJCCI, Daud Ahmed, E.C Member PCJCCI, Khalid Raffique Ch, E.C Member PCJCCI, Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General PCJCCI and many other businessmen.

Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri said that the problems and disputes which can arise during huge investments between the two countries can be resolved through ADR system on the fast track. As Pakistan and China, are conducting various joint ventures of commendable investments, in which so many variances can occur. In my point of view, law is difficult and time-taking, so in such cases we should depend on the most easiest and convenient way that is, “Alternate Dispute Resolution”, he added.

Moazzam Ghurki, President PCJCCI added that through ADR clause, the two parties can resolve their issues with the help of mediator, facilitator, he said and added that the ADR clause is one of the most popular modes in foreign countries to resolve business disputes. He also said that the combination of Chinese technological advancements and Pakistan’s natural and human resources can bring revolutionary changes in the region. It is quite clear that Pakistan and China are working on one of the largest economic engagements and development plans ever, rightly termed as ‘game-changer’ for Pakistan.

Cheng Dezhi, President Qingdao Law Society appreciated the Pakistan China Joint Chamber for taking initiative to establish, Pakistan China ADR Centre for the businessmen of Pakistan and China. He added that PCJCCI had been working on different grounds which had created opportunities for the young entrepreneurs. He applauded PCJCCI’s vibrant role in promoting bilateral trade and business between both the nations and welcomed PCJCCI decision to set up ADR Center.

Hamza Khalid, Vice President PCJCCI said that Pakistan China Joint Chamber aims at capacity building of local entrepreneurs as per need of the ever-changing market trends. He also appreciated Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri for elaborating a tricky subject in a simple way by sharing his life-long experiences.

Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General PCJCCI said that we are endeavouring to build a better and prosperous future of Pakistan and for this we are planning to settle Pakistan China ADR Centre, for the convenience of Pakistani and Chinese businessmen. We are trying to encourage and train the young entrepreneurs of Pakistan with international and local laws of business, he added.
