Faisalabad, December 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):In the light of the orders of the Managing Director (MD) Power Planning and Monitoring Company (PPMC), a safety audit is being conducted in all Distribution Companies (DISCOs) with the aim of preventing the loss of lives of the most valuable asset “line staff” said Additional Chief Engineer, Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Tufail Ahmed during a detailed lecture on safety audit in Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO). He said that during fatal and non-fatal accidents, line staff lose their precious lives or become physically disabled for life, which causes lifelong suffering for their families.

He further said that along with ensuring the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the consumers, we also have the responsibility to protect the life and property of ourselves, our colleagues, the public and the department. It can be made possible only by following the principles of “Safety First”, for which the FESCO officers and employees have to fulfill their responsibilities in an efficient manner so that line staff could be safe from any fatal or non-fatal accident, he added. At this occasion, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FESCO Engr. Bashir Ahmad welcomed Safety Audit and said that it will help to further reduce the rate of accidents in FESCO and understand their causes in a better way and as a result the risks to the life of the linemen will be reduced and they will have a better working environment.

He added that FESCO is spending huge amounts every year to procure T and P, safety equipment and uniforms according to international standards for its staff so that the accident rate can be brought down to zero level. He especially praised the role played by Deputy Director Safety Mohammad Saeed Raza and his team for promoting safety culture in FESCO and reducing the rate of accidents as worthy of emulation for other DISCOs. Earlier, Deputy Director Safety FESCO Mohammad Saeed Raza during his briefing said that the Safety Audit of FESCO by HSEQ cell of PPMC continued till 21st November 2018.

During this tenure, Additional Chief Engineer (HSEQ) Cell PPMC Engineer Tufail Ahmed along with Assistant Director Muhammad Salahuddin conducted Safety Audit at first, second, Jhang, Sargodha Circle, apart from Department of Material Management, M and T, GSO, GSC, Regional Training Center, Safety Directorate and Safety Control Room. At the end of the lecture, an oath was also taken from the participants to ensure safety rules and regulations. All Chief Engineers of FESCO, All Superintending Engineers (SEs) of FESCO region including Operations, M and T, GSO, GSE Circle, and Materials Management attended this lecture.
