StormFiber Introduces Fiber Broadband Service to Sargodha

Karachi, July 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):StormFiber, one of Pakistan’s leading Fiber to the Home (FTTH) service providers, has announced the launch of its services in the city of Sargodha. Sargodha, also known as the City of Eagles, is the 16th largest city in Pakistan. The city is of immense strategic importance for the defense of the country and hosts Pakistan Air Force’s largest base, and headquarters to Pakistan Air Force’s Central Air Command. The city also contributes to most of the country’s mandarin produce, accounting for nearly 80% of Pakistan’s total kinnow production — which is estimated at 2 million tons annually.

Citizens of Sargodha have, for ages, been relying on legacy technologies such as Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) which uses copper phone lines to transmit data. Since signal degradation is a common occurrence on DSL, consumers endure inconsistent internet speeds and distortion on voice service. With the launch of StormFiber, consumers will be able to avail the benefits of a fiber-to-the-home connection over GPON, a technology that makes it possible to transmit gigabit broadband with consistent internet speeds, HD quality TV, and crystal-clear voice calls.

Commenting on the development, Fawad Yousuf Laher, Managing Director StormFiber, said, “It gives us immense pride to announce the launch of our services in a city which has made phenomenal strides in its growth.” “With the expansion of our fiber broadband footprint in different cities, we aim to play our role in reducing the digital divide between Pakistan and the rest of the world — and make available to the citizens of Sargodha the same ultra-fast broadband that is available to residents in cities such as New York, Seoul, and Beijing.”

Robust connectivity plays a pivotal role in empowering individuals and small and medium businesses to access global opportunities and markets. Our mission is to fuel this progress,” he added. Mr. Maroof Ali Shahani, Chief Operating Officer, Cyber Internet Services, also expressed his views saying, “As a 100% Pakistani company, we believe in creating a digital ecosystem in Pakistan which can compete effectively with global hubs, and for which availability of ultra-fast broadband is critical.”

“We are fully committed to pursuing our mission of fiberizing Pakistan, which would translate to increase GDP, increases in overall tax collection, and improvement in the standard of living of our citizens,” he added. Last month, StormFiber had announced the launch of its services in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and parts of Islamabad.
