Karachi, January 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has requested a meeting with Additional Inspector General (IG) Traffic Sindh Aftab Nabi Pathan to resolve the issues in the best interest of efficient logistics which is a pillar of the economy. Being badly affected by the non-response of the officials to their grievances the transporters had requested Zulfikar Thaver the president of the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) for intervention.
Accordingly, a meeting was held at UNISAME House with the office bearers of the Transporters of Goods Association (TGA) who complained of non-issuance of LTV/HTC licenses for last 3 months and no facility of open space for conducting driving tests for license purposes. Asif Hyatt, vice president UNISAME said there is regular harassment of drivers for extracting bribes and it is making their life miserable.
Another important issue is bar on daytime movement of heavy traffic on link roads which is proving a detriment for export cargo and delayed shipments, said Yameen Bhamani convener of UNISAME logistics committee. Mahmood Hussain general secretary TGA and Haji Ishaq Soomro chairman of legal aid committee of TGA and other participants namely the clearing agents and freight forwarders urged the Additional IG Traffic to spare time for an urgent meeting for resolution of their issues.
